Privacy Policy
Last reviewed . Short version: we do not track you, and the only thing kept in your browser is whether you dismissed the notice.
1. What this policy covers
This policy applies to the website published by Quiet Index Media LLC under the name The Quiet Index, including the ranking page, the method page, the journal and the static pages linked from the footer. It explains what information the site handles when you read it, what it deliberately does not handle, and who to write to with a question. It does not cover any other website you may reach by following a link from here.
2. What we store on your device
One value, and only one. When you dismiss the notice that appears on a first visit, the site writes the key wgrCookieConsent into your browser's local storage so that the notice does not appear again. That value records nothing about you: it is a single flag saying the notice has been acknowledged. It stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and can be removed at any time by clearing site data in your browser settings, after which the notice reappears on your next visit.
3. What we do not collect
There are no accounts on this site and no way to create one, so we hold no usernames, passwords or profiles. There is no newsletter sign-up, no comment system and no contact form, so we do not receive form submissions. We do not take payments of any kind and therefore never see card or banking details. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell or share reader information, and we have nothing to sell or share in the first place.
4. Cookies and the notice you saw
The site sets no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no third-party cookies. The notice that runs on a first visit exists because we would rather state plainly what happens than let you assume the usual arrangement applies. Dismissing it stores the single local flag described in section 2. Ignoring it changes nothing about how the site behaves, and the pages work identically whether or not you interact with it. This section is written to match the wording of that notice exactly.
5. Analytics and third-party scripts
No analytics service, tag manager, heat-map tool, session recorder, advertising network or social widget runs on these pages. The only script the site loads is its own small file, served from this domain, which handles the navigation menu, the consent flag, in-page anchor scrolling and the year in the footer. It makes no network requests. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts so that the typography renders as intended; that request is handled by Google under its own privacy terms and carries no identifier we set.
6. Server logs and hosting
Like effectively every website, the server that delivers these pages may record ordinary technical request information such as an IP address, a timestamp, the page requested and a browser user-agent string. These logs exist for security and reliability, are generated by the hosting infrastructure rather than by anything we have added, are not combined with any other information, are not used to profile readers, and are retained only for a short operational period before being discarded.
7. Links to Google Play and other sites
Every game covered in the ranking links out to that game's own listing on Google Play. Once you follow such a link you are on a Google service, and Google's own privacy terms apply to what happens there — including anything relating to your Google account, your device and any purchase you choose to make. We receive no information back about what you do after leaving this site, and we have no commercial arrangement attached to those links. The Quiet Index is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC.
8. Email you send us
If you write to the addresses on the contact page, we hold your message and your email address for as long as it takes to answer you and, where it concerns a correction, to record why an entry was changed. We do not add correspondents to any mailing list, and we do not pass messages to anyone outside the desk.
9. Children
This is an editorial publication about games, written for a general adult readership. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and given that the site collects nothing beyond the local flag described above, there is nothing about any reader for us to hold.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask what information an organisation holds about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Because we hold no reader records, in most cases the honest answer to such a request is that there is nothing to produce. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence removed, ask and we will delete it. You can also clear the local consent flag yourself at any time through your browser.
11. Changes to this policy
If the site ever changes what it stores or loads, this page changes first and the review date at the top is updated. We do not make quiet changes to privacy terms.
